Non- Kill Shelters

                                        County Open Enrollment Shelters

Each local county in the Greater Cincinnati area maintains and open enrollment public animal shelter. While county shelters make every effort to maintain a no-kill environment it may be necessary to euthanize animals based on overpopulation due to the nature of an open enrollment environment. Due to breed specific legislation in some areas, open enrollment shelters may limit or restrict the adoption of “pit bull” dogs which results in higher rates of euthanasia of “pit bull” dogs in open enrollment shelters.
